Introduction to Pulse Diagnostics
Pulse diagnostic is the health diagnosis method known from ancient times. It is founded on concepts of oriental philosophy and medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine) : Yin Yang, Wu-Xing, Elements, Qi energy and etc.
The purpose of oriental pulse diagnostics is to estimate the unbalance of Yin and Yang in human body, energy condition and to make out a diagnosis in form of deviation of various types of Qi energies from harmony.
To estimate this unharmony pulse diagnosis specialist listens to the patient pulse in special points on patient hand. Pulse wave is reading at the points of Cun, Guan, Chi
Pulse points are situated on lungs meridian and in pulse diagnostics have such names as cun, guan', chi.
The positions on hand in points cun, guan, chi, have a connection with the functional systems, which include internal organs, their function, external and internal energy channels, structure and the part of the body (as it showed in Table 1).
Note: Table 1 does not show the direct correspondence of pulse positions with internal organs. These names of internal organs are called channels (meridians) by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Channels include internal organs as well.

Pulse diagnostics classifies more than 28 various types pulses, which describe the way the pulse feels to the fingertip. Oriental medicine describes person condition using intuitive and indirect descriptions of pulse waveform, including natural and artistic images, such as "Slippery pulse" - feels like a rolling pearl in a basin, very fluid and full.
The researcher that using the oriental method of pulse waveform analysis must have artistic flair, analytical talent and sensitive fingers experienced with a long training. This preventing the widespread of pulse diagnsostics.
Computer Age
Today in "Computer Age" we may automate many complex tasks. Computers are using in health care as well, now we cannot imagine the clinic without computer heart-rate monitors and other high-tech devices.
In 1988 the group of Russian researchers studied the oriental pulse diagnostics, and developed computer Pulse Diagnostics Complex (PDC). It was used to record pulses for TCM specialist and perform some basic analysis. The PDC was widely used in Russian and some foreign countries clinics. But it still needed the experienced TCM specialist record and classify the pulse and estimate it deviation from norm in channels.
The research continues and in 2000 was developed completely automated pulse analysis technology called Pulse Analysis System. It capable to estimate the unharmony of pulse wave with very high reliability and transform in the terms of TCM. The system able to determine channels deformations and their interactions with such precision which is only achieved by pulse diagnostics guru. Also was developed special microprocessor sensor for recording patient pulse. It capable of determining even unnotifying (by the manual method) differencies of pulses, and have special quality control system - it is the part of objective diagnosis system.
